Unbelievably many major news sources (including the BBC News online - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6260995.stm) printed stories last week about Koopa being the "first unsigned band to have a top 40 hit"... this is quite simply not true! They are not the first unsigned band to have a UK top 40 hit single.
The Dualers - a fantastic authentic ska combo that many of you may know - had a Top 40 hit a couple of years ago without being signed. They were probably the first act in the UK to achieve this. Yet their achievement is being ignored and rubbished by the media. Yet again the mainstream press have fallen again for the hype created by a good press company.
Designer Magazine have looked into this beyond the press release and written a great article about it. You can read it on their site:
It would be great if you could re-post this information to as many people as possible and get the truth out there. Not only is it important to recognise and promote truth - but the Dualers are great guys and musicians who deserve better than this. If you work in the media or have any media contacts - even better! Please let them know about this.
