Qiute funny really, found myself going to see Gerry Farrell as it did bother me. He found it laughable that anybody would take that much interest in it to post it on their site!! Why does that not surprise me.
Rortise

I hope I don't lose my post count or my moniker as "most prescient poster"

Don't forget where you got the info on the web site from Wink

Gnasher, owner and host of Shrimpsvoices Laughing but don't let that stop you asking for any help or advice, seriously.

He found it laughable that anybody would take that much interest in it to post it on their site!!

It was the way it looked like an individual had been singled out for negative attention that was interesting. Anyway, you got some fairly good glowing reports on the back of it!
Badger55

I am led to beleive that it can all return quite quickly, depending on a couple of things tha t I am currently chasing . The key to the whole thing is the initial register of the.com site.
Gnasher

If it's the expired domain name that's the problem then the site itself has gone nowhere, it's just the pointers to it that have been removed as an incnetive to pay the renewal fee. Unfortunately what I've found in the past is an expired record has to be renewed before it can be moved so you'll be looking at paying B1st to do it. Then you've got at least a year to move it, if you want, elsewhere.
Gnasher

The site should have an address wherever it's hosted, a local address. It could be something like http://1.2.3.4/lancastercityfc, at least if you know that then you can re-assure yourself that the site's OK.
Badger55

You are 100% correct ,i am currently negotiating that fee, this will hopefully appease bus1st, then the hosts will take over and hopefully that will be that. Our hosts assure us that the site is there as you say, there is a connection with one of our new sponsors so we are hopeful of a quick and satisfactory outcome.
Gnasher

One last thing, when the domain is brought back to life it can take up to 24 hours for everyone to see it.
Badger55

I will keep you guys posted with up to date info, I feel like I have exhausted my ability to affect things at the moment as I am now reliant on others to act on our behalf.
Gnasher

Looking good .....

Domain Name: LANCASTERCITYFC.COM
Registrar: TUCOWS INC.
Whois Server: whois.tucows.com
Referral URL: http://domainhelp.opensrs.net
Name Server: NS1.LIVEDNS.CO.UK
Name Server: NS2.LIVEDNS.CO.UK
Status: clientHold
Updated Date: 15-sep-2007
Creation Date: 14-sep-2000
Expiration Date: 14-sep-2008
Badger55

I notice the difference from that info, from this morning is the last updated date. it has now gone to todays date. Will that be for their benefit??
Gnasher

The last updated date shows the last time the global .com domain database was updated, not specifically lancastercityfc.com's details.

The weird thing is that if you check the domain through easily's site, the expiry date is still 2007 but a different whois lookup site reports 2008. Both claim to be giving a view of the same information about lancastercityfc.com. I'm still trying to my head round this bit about expiry dates though

NOTICE: The expiration date displayed in this record is the date the
registrar's sponsorship of the domain name registration in the registry is
currently set to expire. This date does not necessarily reflect the expiration
date of the domain name registrant's agreement with the sponsoring
registrar. Users may consult the sponsoring registrar's Whois database to
view the registrar's reported date of expiration for this registration.

I think what they mean is the global database has an expiry date of 2007 but whoever B1st registered the domain with might have it as 2007, still. Maybe easily.co.uk is the best site to check with.

How ironic that the advert attached to the bottom of that post was headed up...

"Bored At Work?"

Ooo this too, it must be ad of the day.........

Are we up and running yet?
Badger55

Hi Guys,

Finally got through to the main man with regards to the domain name. I am hopeful,( as he is related to one of our new sponsors) that we should have some movement tomorrow. It is slow as the guy is considering old debt. there was 2 yr outstanding debt. We were not aware of this till the site disappeared. Anyway I am trying to get them to reduce the cost of tranferring out with regards to both of the domain names. So heres hoping, If nothing moves I will post here again tomorrow 5.30ish.

Just a thought Dave but what are the possibilities of starting completely afresh as regards the website, i.e completely losing the present one and starting a brand new one up. Would that get rid of all the messing about with the present one or would it create more difficulties. As I said, just a thought, but you could then design the site to your own/the clubs own specifications.
Badger55

Thanks for that, we thought we would try to use today to solve the situation , if we meet more problems then maybe consider something along the lines you suggested.
Just about to speak to Business 1st again, so will keep you in touch.
Gnasher

It's like someone's removed the web site from multimap, google earth and all your satnav devices. It still exists, your browser just don't know how to find it. Once the registration is sorted out, it should spring back to life in no more than 24 hours - the time it takes the likes of multimap, google earth and your satnav devices to turn on and get a message saying it's back.
Badger55

Hi guys,

Sorry the post is late, been out watching my second team. However I am assured that we are now sorted and will be back in glorious dolly blue technicolour tomorrow at the latest. This had left the badger a few pounds light at the moment, however I am going down Christie Ave in the morning and South road tomorrow night with the Save the Badger buckets. So hopefully all will be ok in the set, and mrs badger and the badgelets wil not starve.
I must say at this stage that the last couple of days have been interesting to say the least, and no doubt, not the last time certain board members with the previous regime will have to be discussed.
Doctor Jimmy

Well all I can say is "Thank the lord for Happy Harry Horner". Dave Horner, Dave Horner The window to watch. Very Happy Wink

It's down again Crying or Very sad
Badger55

Any ideas why?
All things financial`now up to date.

Twas working nine(ish) last night I seem to recall. Although my memory of last night is a touch hazy. Rolling Eyes

No problem with the name and it resolves to a server better known as 213.171.218.27 which responds to a ping i.e. the computer your web site sits on is still working. Likely to be a problem within the server itself. Apache or IIS probably failed.
mad cyril

D'you reckon??

I thought it might have been an issue with the Thruxpatooonaminki Drive Matrix - possibly a Throstian Relapse or a Snephaffle Springtangle, but you could be right. Probably best to rule out the simple stuff first.

What has a Red Indian tribe got to do with it?
LFC-LCFC

its all invalid

EDIT Whys there a Babyshambles advert below my post Rolling Eyes
mad cyril

Errrrr..................
Gnasher

D'you reckon??

Yes I do actually, reckoning cockups with web sites is one of my daytime jobs.

The Apache tribe are cheap to look after, the IIS tribe pays homage to Sir Bill of Gates.

Looks like it's IIS/6.0 which would be running on Windows Server 2003 with asp.net.
mad cyril

So absolutely nothing to do with the Thruxpatooonaminki Drive Matrix then??

What about the Inline Thruckletinconbobulatormorizer? Bet you never even gave that a second thought did you?
