Well done BurnleyBut all the hype at Radio Lancs is a bit over the top.
Taking into account resources and leagues that clubs play in
More-cambe's 3-1 win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers last season was a far bigger achievement than a penalty shoot-out win against Chelsea Reserves.

Nah it wasn't, actually Burnleh only won a penalty shoot out, but drew the game. Actually Wimbledon beating Leeds in the FA Cup in the mid 70's is more of a shock, especially as Chorley had stuffed them in the trophy a few months previous.
For More-cambe to create a shock they would have to beat a Premiership team and that my friend will not happen.

absolute b***ocks
Wolves compared to a club in its debut season in the league 2 divisions below is a much bigger achievement than Burnley drawing with an understrength Chelsea.
We didn't need penalties.

It will only be remembered as a cup shock in your area you beat a side 2 divisions above you, Curzon beat Exeter 3 divisions above them, therefore their fans could be forgiven for saying that it was a big cup shock. But for teams from the lower reaches of the league to register on the shockometer it is a premiership scalp. Besides we finished above Wolves the season before you beat them so technically beating us was a bigger result.
12-1 chasing 380 not a good start, mind you we put them in obviously thought it was a bowling

Sadly with cup competitions the bigger clubs tend to think of them as a distraction, so cup surprises count for little, except when you lose 2-1 at Swansea under Craig Brown, especially given the draw that year when Millwall got to the final, but that's another story. Years ago used to get the News of the World football yearbook, it always had a page on major cup shocks, Moricambe beating Wolves in the league cup wouldn't even get a mention.
As I said it was a good result for your self at the time but apart from your fans and the few Wolves fans who were there in years to come nobody will remember it.

and it will be the same for Burnley in a few years time.
Chelsea fans will say we put out a weak team and got beat on penalties.
It will not be remembered in the same way as Hereford v Newcastle 1972.
England 38 for 4 now with Fred out LBW to a ball that pitched outside leg stump.

Hereford v Newcastle exactly my point, people still talk about that years later, mainly because everyone were wearing Parkahs when they ran on the pitch.

Motty is a legend.
I think to sum it up shocks in the league cup are less memorable than shocks in the FA cup.
